My reaction to UFC 185

This past Saturday night was a spectacular night at UFC 185. This PPV event was completely stacked, filled with exciting fights that lived up to the MMA world's expectations. I found this event shockingly amazing because, of the two upset victories in the co-main and main event title bouts. It was definitely a great night of MMA action for sure. Below are my reactions to the two new champs' fights. Enjoy!

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

The odds were against Polish mixed martial artist, Joanna Jedrzejczyk this past Saturday night. The former six time World Muay Thai Champion shown everyone her flawless striking ability and incredible takedown defense. She dethroned Carla Esparza by stopping most of her takedowns, and landed devastating strikes, which led to her second round TKO victory. To defeat Esparza, the first Invicta FC and UFC Women's Strawweight Champion with ease, sends a message to the entire UFC Women's Strawweight division. I can't wait to see Joanna Jedrzejczyk back in action!

Rafael dos Anjos

Rafael dos Anjos shocked the MMA world, myself including, with his impressive performance over Anthony "Showtime" Pettis. Prior to this UFC 185 title fight, Pettis was on a five fight winning streak on which he earned the UFC Lightweight title, and defended it once against Gilbert Melendez. The Brazilian mixed martial artist, Anjos stepped into the octagon focused with the odds against him. He impressed the judges with his dominant performance by pressuring Pettis, landing combinations, and scoring takedowns. The UFC Lightweight division is filled with elite fighters waiting for their chance at capturing the title. Rafael dos Anjos is expecting to face the winner of Donald Cerrone versus Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Fight On!

My weekend at PAX East

This past weekend, I had an incredible time attending my first PAX ever! The convention center was jam packed, filled with thousands of avid gamers, friendly indie developers, and well established video game journalists among others. I had the privilege to play a handful of entertaining indie games. The game that stood out to me the most was Capsule Force. It's a multi-player action game where you go against your friends in well design levels. I really like the retro style look to the game. This indie game was actually the first game I played at PAX East, and I definitely had blast playing it.

Indie games weren't the only games that instantly grabbed my attention. Tearaway Unfolded was also on the show floor as well. I was more than excited to get my hands on it. I was impressed with Tearaway on the PS Vita back in late 2013. Media Molecule did a marvelous job utilizing each of PS Vita's features. I was bummed out to heard about Tearaway's poor sales, because it's really a great game, so I was happy to hear the announcement of Tearaway Unfolded on PS4. I enjoyed the PAX demo of this game. I was pleased to see that the developers are utilizing PS4's features, similar to how they did on the PS Vita.

PAX is a great expo to attend, to meet and network with indie developers, other attendees, and well established people in the video games industry. I had the honor to meet and speak with GiantBomb's Alex Navarro. It was a surreal moment for me, and was definitely one of my highlights of PAX East.

I can't wait to go back!
